When to Call a Lawyer

Seek Legal Advice Immediately

If you have been contacted by law enforcement or anticipate being contacted by law enforcement, seek legal advice immediately.

If you suspect a person with whom you engaged in sexual activity is underage, contact a lawyer NOW.

If you have engaged in consensual sex with an adult and have reason to believe that your sex partner is now claiming otherwise, contact our firm now.

In sex crimes, probably more than any other area of the law, representation by competent experienced counsel in the investigative stages and before the filing of criminal charges is critical.

Confessions or Admissions often provide damaging evidence and sex crime investigators are masters at tricking an unwary or unsophisticated person into admitting facts otherwise unprovable.

If you are visited by an FBI Agent, Secret Service Agent or U.S. Postal Agent seeking access to your computer, contact our firm immediately. Never voluntarily surrender your computer. Even if threatened with a search warrant, never surrender your computer unless there is a court order.

If you are visited by a Detective, a Sheriff's Deputy, an FDLE Agent or any criminal investigator never answer questions without conferring with an attorney. AN INITIAL CONSULTATION WITH PETER AIKEN AT ANY ONE OF OUR THREE OFFICES IS FREE.

Often detectives will lie or mislead you into believing that sex with an underage girl is not a crime if the young lady consented. They do this to get you to admit sexual contact. In Florida, a minor by law cannot give valid consent. Always seek the advice of an attorney experienced in Sex Crimes.

  • Never give up your right to an attorney.
  • Call immediately and discuss your rights before any questioning.
  • Do not be tricked into admissions.
  • Never allow a search of your premises without a search warrant.
  • An experienced lawyer in Sex Crimes may keep you from being arrested.
  • Do not try and talk your way out of trouble.
